Now the master of new consumer technologies, Steve Jobs, announced his resignation on Wednesday as Apple CEO, attention is also given to the intellectual property aspects of Apple’s success. Mr. Jobs’s say over the minute details of Apple’s products is legendary in Silicon Valley. A look at the patents that carry his name, for these products and others, offers a glimpse into the range of his influence at Apple. NYT did just that, worth a read:

After a momentous U.S. Congressional election that saw more turnover in the chamber than had occurred for many years, the 112th US Congress is showing signs of continuing recent efforts to make changes to the country’s patent law. In the last few Congresses, such efforts have largely failed. Whether the new Congress will continue that trend remains to be seen.

One would assume that easier access to information worldwide that internet provides would make it easier for Patent Offices to find prior art against a patent application so as to ensure that only real inventions are passing the patent process and make it to an issued patent.
No expert can possibly have the scope, skills and capabilities and knowledge of prior art that deep, individual technical experts anywhere in the world possibly have. Patent Office officials need to understand the patent application in just a limited of hours to determine...
